The difference between the F1 and M1 student visas is that the F1 visa corresponds to academic studies, while the M1 visa pertains to vocational training in the USA. However, to be eligible for either a Student Visa F1 or M1, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Intent to Depart the USA: Students must have the intention to leave the USA once their studies are completed.
  2. Sufficient Financial Resources: Students must have enough funds to cover tuition, living costs, and all other expenses for the entire duration of their education. They are not allowed to work in the USA to pay for their studies. To meet this criterion, they can provide relevant and consistent financial information, such as:
    • Parents’ or personal bank statements
    • Sponsor documentation, if applicable
    • Financial aid or scholarships from their home countries
    • Financial support from their employer
    • Their own salary information
  3. Clean Criminal Record: Students must have a clean police record and no involvement in subversive groups, criminal activities, or terrorist organizations, either locally or internationally.

If you meet all the above requirements, you can move on to the next steps to pursue your dream studies in the USA:

Next Steps:

  1. a) Contact Educational Institutions: Reach out to the educational institution or vocational training center by email or phone. Keep in mind that some institutions are not eligible for these visa programs, such as:
  • Homeschools
  • Public elementary or middle schools
  • Adult education programs funded by federal, state, county, or municipal governments
  1. b) Review Tuition Fees and Payment Methods: Gather information about tuition fees, other financial requirements, and the methods for paying these expenses.
  2. c) Prepare for Your Embassy Appointment: Collect all necessary documents, including the F1 or M1 visa form, and present them at your appointment with the US embassy.
